Creation story (MINE)
The Creation story, it is changed from tribe to tribe but for the Oneida this is how we tell it. Long short short, A long time ago when the earth was a dark place with only water everythere, a pregnet woman fell from the sky world. Giant birds catch her and set her down on a giant turtles back. On her way down she ripped rooted from where she fell in. She asked many animals if they could swim to the bottom of the water and grab soil. Many animals tried and many failed, But in one animal’s paw there was dirt. So she used that dirt to plant those roots on the turtles back. The sky woman gave birth to a baby girl. Many years later, the ski woman’s daughter got pregnant and have birth to the right handed twin and the left handed twin. (Good and evil)

Cornhusk Dolls (MINE)
The cornhusk dolls are the OG of dolls. They have two back ground stories, in which I believe in both. Both stories involve why they don’t have a face. The first story, a long time ago, a woman was so vane and only liked looking at her reflection in the lake. The creator didnt like that so he took away her face until she can learn to be nice. The second story, a long time ago, the childen in the tribes played with these dolls, but whenever the child was sad, the doll is sad and then the child is happy, the doll is happy. They are faceless to match what the child is feeling. My Great Grand Mother has Cornhusk dolls in the smithsonian museum. I got inpired by her work that I took it into my own hands to continue to make cornhusk dolls to honor her. I love making them and I love when other poeple share the same excitment as I do then I see them.
The heart means love but a broken heart means someone’s feelings have been hurt to the extent that they feel like their heart has been ripped into two pieces.

During my freshman or sophomore year of high school, I was grabbing golf bag from my dad’s car. On my way back to the entrance of the school I saw this small figure sitting on the brick edging of the garden. I looked closer and It was a humming bird. I got so close to it that I got to pet it. I thought It was fake but when I tried to pick it up, it flew up by my face and then flew away. So that experience has been with me since then and made the humming bird my favorite animal.
Feather (MINE)
Feathers are a good sign in the native culture. They mean the spirits are around you. We always find them when we are in need of guidance or reassurance that the spirts are looking out for us.
